The three-day 2nd National Academic Conference for Young and Mid-Career Orthodontists concluded successfully at the Shenyang New World Expo from August 3rd to 5th.
The Orthodontic Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association held the "2nd National Academic Conference for Young and Mid-Career Orthodontists" in Shenyang, Liaoning from August 3rd to 5th, 2022, providing a platform for young and mid-career orthodontists, scholars, and graduate students to present their work and exchange ideas.
Approved by the Chinese Stomatological Association, the conference was hosted by the Orthodontic Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association, organized by the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of China Medical University and Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, and co-organized by the Orthodontic Committee of the Liaoning Stomatological Association.

Dr.Clear was honored to invite Professor Liu Yi, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Orthodontic Committee, to serve as the Conference Chair. Professor Zhao Zhihe from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, Dr. Shu Guang, Chief Physician of the Orthodontic Department at the Second Clinical Division of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, and Professor Zhang Fan, Deputy Director of the Orthodontic Department at the Stomatological Hospital of Shandong University, were invited to share their professional insights.

Professor Zhao Zhihe from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, kicked off the session. Due to the pandemic, Professor Zhao shared valuable insights on the hot topic of early intervention — mouth breathing and arch expansion — via an online presentation. He provided a detailed discussion covering the causes of mouth breathing, how to properly understand it, multidisciplinary treatment approaches, and various methods of arch expansion.

Following that, Dr. Shu Guang, Chief Physician of the Orthodontic Department at the Second Clinical Division of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, presented on the topic of systemic issues in clear aligner treatment and corresponding clinical strategies.
During the presentation, Dr. Shu highlighted certain errors and deficiencies in past clear aligner systems, starting from the digital modeling stage. These included inaccurate occlusal plane positioning, a lack of dynamic occlusion systems, and incorrect tooth movement data. Such issues can mislead clinicians into making flawed designs and developing unfeasible treatment plans. Only by resolving these issues can clear aligner treatment become more predictable, with better outcomes and higher efficiency.

Associate Professor Zhang Fan, Deputy Director of the Orthodontic Department at the Stomatological Hospital of Shandong University, delivered an engaging lecture on the analysis and solutions for extraction cases in clear aligner treatment, using practical case studies to deepen clinicians' understanding of the challenges.

Dr.Clear's innovative root-bone system utilizes the latest and most advanced deep learning methods, trained on extensive CBCT data. The AI reconstructs the three-dimensional anatomical structures of the crown, root, and alveolar bone, enabling intuitive visualization of root-bone relationships, indicating safe ranges for root movement, and highlighting risks of bone fenestration and dehiscence. It accurately and efficiently reproduces the true root-bone morphology, allowing direct visualization of root-bone relationships.

Additionally, Dr.Clear has developed a new curved coordinate system based on alveolar bone anatomy, essentially assigning a three-dimensional spatial reference point for each tooth and installing a "GPS" for the root. This provides precise feedback on root movement data, transitioning from intuitive estimation to truly quantifiable data, enabling "precise navigation" for teeth to reach their target positions. It more accurately reflects the direction and magnitude of tooth movement relative to the alveolar bone, helping clinicians develop credible and feasible treatment plans.

Meanwhile, the C4 Flex also adopts a new three-layer TPU film, combining rigidity and flexibility. It offers high elasticity and excellent wrapping while providing toughness and tear resistance, improving treatment efficiency.
