On the first day of the course, Professor Mai Zhihui, Associate Chief Physician of the Department of Orthodontics, Stomatology Division, Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, delivered an insightful opening lecture.
He began by explaining the necessity of early orthodontic intervention in children, drawing on knowledge of growth and development and craniofacial anatomy. He also provided a detailed overview of the biomechanics of clear aligner treatment, anchorage analysis and design principles, and the indications for clear aligner therapy in pediatric patients.
In addition, Professor Mai highlighted the design principles of anchorage in pediatric clear aligner treatment, using real clinical cases to illustrate key aspects such as arch expansion and alignment.

In the evening, Teacher Qiu Guanrong, Director of Chang'an Charm Angel Dental Clinic, shared practical insights on addressing patient needs across different age groups, along with effective clinic management strategies and communication scripts to support the entire patient journey—from acquisition and retention to loyalty and upgrades.

In the morning, to help the attending doctors master the use of the C3 NOA Myofunctional Appliance, Professor Mai Zhihui continued his lecture. His solid clinical experience and excellent presentation skills made the learning process engaging and effective. He shared the indications and solutions for the NOA Myofunctional Appliance and its solutions. During the practical session, he provided tips on adjusting the appliance and important precautions, enhancing the participants' professional skills and ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
The selection and adjustment of common Functional Orthodontic Appliances has always been a challenge in clinical practice. Professor Mai dedicated an entire afternoon to a detailed explanation. He covered the types and selection of functional appliances for skeletal Class II and Class III malocclusions, as well as those for不良习惯 correction, providing comprehensive coverage. The condensed knowledge was delivered at a measured pace, allowing participants to fully digest and keep up with the instructor.
