On the first day of the course, Professor Mai Zhihui, Associate Chief Physician of the Department of Orthodontics, Stomatology Division, Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, delivered an insightful opening lecture.
He began by explaining the necessity of early orthodontic intervention in children, drawing on knowledge of growth and development and craniofacial anatomy. He also provided a detailed overview of the biomechanics of clear aligner treatment, anchorage analysis and design principles, and the indications for clear aligner therapy in pediatric patients.
In addition, Professor Mai highlighted the design principles of anchorage in pediatric clear aligner treatment, using real clinical cases to illustrate key aspects such as arch expansion and alignment.

He covered the types and selection of functional appliances for skeletal Class II and Class III malocclusions, as well as those for不良习惯 correction, providing comprehensive coverage.
